Barbara Savage

Biography & Memoir

Barbara Savage

As a philanthropist, activist, author, educator, and thought leader, Barbara works to raise consciousness around indigenous causes while sharing indigenous wisdom in support of nature and global healing. Barbara Savage has dedicated her time, energy, expertise, and resources to further the mission of the Tribal Trust Foundation. As an educator, Barbara has shared her experiences with students of all ages, including the university level. In her capacity as Curator for the Santa Barbara Museum of Art Store, she successfully introduced and fostered a market for handmade Fair Trade products that supported indigenous communities throughout the world. She produced two award-winning documentary films and an exhibition that required her to risk her life in politically hostile environments to support the threatened indigenous people requesting her help.

She has personally witnessed the struggle for survival of indigenous peoples throughout the world and identified the sustainable cultural preservation projects supported by the foundation.  www.tribaltrustfoundation.org

Savage: A Memoir describes a life of magical adventure, but one not without tests and challenges. It offers vital insight into the challenges of indigenous people, who both hold the wisdom the world needs as they face the extinction of their cultures and the loss of this wisdom—while also offering and a message of promise for our times.
